Best Happy Hours for Beer Lovers in Chicago

From $3 pitchers in Avondale to rotating draft specials downtown, these are the Chicago happy hours where cheap, good beer is the whole point.

Chicago will sell you a $14 cocktail without blinking, but the city's real love language is still a cold draft for less than the price of a cab ride. These are the happy hours where beer isn't an afterthought on a wine-and-spirits-heavy menu — it's the headline, with pitchers, rotating taps, and prices that make you double-check the chalkboard.

Pitcher Season Never Ends

Some bars still get that a pitcher splits four ways and nobody has to do math on a second round.

  • River Shannon (Lincoln Park) runs a different deal every weekday: $12 pitchers of Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, or Goose Island on Mondays and Wednesdays, $5 Bud and Bud Light bottles on Tuesdays, $6 Nutrl seltzers on Thursdays, and $25 Bud Light buckets on Fridays. Happy hour runs 3–6 PM Monday through Friday.
  • Hopsmith Tavern (Gold Coast) keeps it simple with $15 pitchers of Miller Lite, Bud Light, or Michelob Ultra, plus $5 "you call it" drinks and $20 appetizer platters for the table, daily from 4:30–6:30 PM.
  • She-nannigans (River North) pours $10 domestic pitchers of Michelob Ultra, Busch Light, or Bud Light alongside $3 domestic cans, Monday through Friday 3–5 PM (and an 11 AM–2 PM window on Sundays for the early crowd).

Dollar(ish) Drafts After Work

For the crowd that just wants the fastest, cheapest path from "off the clock" to "beer in hand."

  • Timothy O'Toole's Pub (Streeterville) is about as beer-forward as happy hour gets: $4 domestic drafts and bottles, $5 craft and import cans, $5 Chicago draft beers, plus $4 garlic parmesan fries and bottomless chips and salsa to go with it. Weekdays, 3–6 PM.
  • Gman Tavern (Wrigleyville) knocks $2 off every draft and well drink, with $4 domestic beers and a $6 Chicago Handshake (shot + beer) in the mix, Monday through Friday 3–6 PM — just not on Cubs home game days.
  • Rizzo's Bar & Inn (Wrigleyville) sticks to weekends for its happy hour: $4 drafts, $5 shots, and a $15 burger-plus-any-beer combo that's basically dinner and drinks solved, Friday and Saturday 4–7 PM.

A Different Deal Every Day of the Week

These two don't bother repeating themselves — the beer specials change daily, so there's a reason to come back more than once a week.

  • Easy Does It (Logan Square) has one of the more generous schedules in the city: happy hour runs the first two hours the bar is open, seven days a week, which means $3 Miller High Life and an $8 "Happy Negroni" from 5 PM–midnight on Mondays, 5–7 PM Tuesday through Thursday, 2–6 PM Friday, and noon–2 PM on weekends.
  • Central Park Bar (Avondale) goes all-in Monday through Friday 4–7 PM with 50% off every drink in the house (shots excepted), plus $9.50 beer-and-shot combos daily and a Wednesday wine-and-cheese add-on if someone in the group defects from beer.

For When You Actually Care What's On Tap

Not every beer happy hour is about volume — these two rotate their taps enough that regulars actually ask what's pouring.

  • Stocks and Blondes (The Loop) rotates its $5 draft between 3 Floyds Gumball Head (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and Goose Island 312 (Tuesday, Thursday), alongside $5 wine, $5 Tito's and Buffalo Trace highballs, and $5 nachos and cheese curds to soak it up. Weekdays, 3–5 PM.
  • Spilt Milk (Logan Square) keeps it refreshingly uncomplicated: half off select draft beers and half off wine, Monday through Thursday 4–7 PM.
